Brant Hufcut, of Milford, was arrested Wednesday around 8:30 p.m., following an attempted robbery on Prayer Spring Road, said Stratford Police Captain Frank Eannotti.

The robbery occurred when Hufcut and an unknown accomplice were at the victim’s residence. At that time Hufcut displayed a handgun and attempted to rob the victim who Hufcut claims owed him money, Eannotti said.

A scuffle ensued and Hufcut struck the victim several times in the head with the pistol. Hufcut was detained at the scene by the victims and others while the unknown accomplice took the pistol and fled the scene, Eannotti said.

Hufcut was charged with criminal attempt to commit robbery, assault with a firearm, and disorderly conduct.

He is being held on $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.
